A day from my food diary

So i've been really watching my diet since the last 3 weeks now. I have lost a total of 2.5 inches (which is great!) and only around 1.5 kgs. Progress is really slow but atleast things are headed in the right direction. I have decided not to give up and give my body more time to deal with the message that i'm trying to send it, 'lose weight and start shrinking!'.

Here's a typical day out of my food diary:

Breakfast: Low fat yogurt berry smoothie with no added sugar. I use a mix of blackberries and blueberries, slim yogurt, a tablespoon of ground flaxseed and blend. Yummm! Its like ice cream for breakfast!

Two boiled eggs.

Mid morning snack: low fat yogurt with berries

Lunch: A bowl of lentil soup. I use any lentil from masoor dal to black channa or chickpeas, soak them overnight and pressure cook in the morning with veggies and garam masala. Not the tastiest meal (i'm still figuring out how to make it yummier), but its definitely filling.

After lunch indulgence: An iced cafe mocha from Barista - without the mocha or the sugar syrup.

Evening snack: A small bowl of tofu stir fried with greens or stir fried chicken.

Dinner: A glass of mango shake (low fat milk and artificially sweetened) or a tofu or chicken stir fry.

So here are the rules: no wheat, no sugar (except from fruits), no starchy foods (potatoes and corn), no saturated fats (except for limited quantities of ghee and cold pressed coconut oil), no rice.

I don't miss any of the above foods, except for sugar at times. But seriously, life can go on. The bags under my eyes have gone. The fat is dropping slowly but visibly. I don't feel tired or depleted. The changes are happening and its great waking up each morning and seeing a new and unexpected improvement :)

My Journey to lose weight and become healthy

I've decided to use my first post to introduce myself. I'm a 31 years old, a married woman, a working professional with barely enough time to breathe between managing my career and home. However, last year i made a choice. A choice triggered by my ill health and sudden weight gain. It was a choice to live healthy.

I suffer from PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) which makes it SUPER HARD to lose weight. I'd tried gymming for a year, eating less, walking more and nothing worked.

However, after my diagnosis, i was on treatment for PCOS. During the treatment, i tried my first ever diet and lost around 8 KG in two weeks! I managed to keep most of it off inspite of a lot of work-related traveling.

I've read a lot about PCOS and have found out that its effects can be reversed with a low/healthy carb and high protein diet. So i have chosen to go off my PCOS treatment and lose weight in the most healthy way I know how. Its been three weeks so far and progress has been steady but slow. Along the way however, I have discovered quite a few healthy recipes which I would love to share with you!
