Greek Cheese and Lentil Wrap

Monday mornings are usually rushed and hectic...here's a recepie that i kind of invented by chance. Its not a quick recepie to create from scratch, but its definitely easy to put together if you have two things prepped beforehand.

Ingredients:
Greek cheese and herbs dip
Massor (black) dal (lentils) soaked overnight and lightly pressure cooked (without any salt)
Lettuce leaves (washed and dried)

So all you need to do is, spread the low fat greek cheese onto the lettuce leaves, use the black lentils as a filling and roll to create a wrap.

 Open wraps

Packed for work

The texture of the lightly boiled lentils goes very well with the greek cheese. This is a light, guilt free, plant based snack that leaves you feeling full without overpowering your senses. Enjoy!

Weekend Indulgences

You've decided to change your lifestyle and eat healthy. All goes according to plan till the weekend comes rolling by. That's when you're constantly bombarded with temptations. You feel frustrated about not being able to eat like everyone else around you. Then you ask yourself, 'Is this even worth it?!' the answer, may be the end of your diet.

Not always though! Its important to make healthy(ier) food choices when eating out so that you dont feel deprived and are not fighting back waves of guilt later.

This weekend, I went ahead and indulged in a scoop of chocolate ice cream! None of that sugar free stuff. But a rich chocolate ice cream. See on the plan that I follow, I am allowed a single treat each week. Guilt free. It helps with the weight loss because it revs up your metabolism. Also, the reason why I chose ice cream was because its protein based. Yes it has fat and sugar too, but the protein content makes it an indulgence of choice.

Last night we had dinner at Chilis and i'm proud to say, we made some (relatively) healthy food choices. I ordered the ranch salad and the plank salmon dish. Namit and I first devoured the salad (i didnt drizzle on the extra dressing). Then we had the salmon with a side of steamed veggies. I must say, the salmon was dreamy! The dish also came with mashed potatoes but i chose not to have those for obvious reasons.

Overall, it felt good to be able to eat out mindfully because i'm one of those people who would otherwise love to binge if given a free rein!

Check In: Progress

SO here's the thing about progress, it is super slow still. My weight, which used to osciallate between 73 kgs till 76 kgs is now in the range of 72 kg-74.5 kg.  I am however, noticing slight changes though, such as:

  • An old outfit that would have looked tight on me, was comfortable to wear to office :) - i have a two suitcases full of clothes that I cant wear because of the weight gain soon after marriage.
  • I've also noticed that the upper part of my torso (the area above my waist) is starting to look more cinched in.

These are slight changes, but they are keeping me going. My goal is to weight 65 kgs which i think on my 5 ft 7 inch frame would be ideal. Dreaming about wearing a sari to a dear friend's wedding in two weeks time! Time to excersise and get those abs toned!
